Lychee Cosmopolitan

Lychee Cosmopolitan

  • Serves: 1

  • Prep Time: 3 minutes

  • Cooking Time:

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Lush Lychees Lychee Vodka
  • 15 ml Cointreau or triple sec
  • 20 ml fresh lime juice
  • 30 ml cranberry juice
  • Ice, for shaking
  • A strip of lime peel, to garnish

A familiar order that instantly explains what a lychee vodka is for.

The cosmopolitan is the drink that made flavoured vodka make sense to people, and lychee suits it better than most. Cranberry brings tartness and colour, the lime keeps it sharp, and the lychee sits underneath giving it a floral edge the original never had.

Method

  1. Chill a coupe glass in the freezer for 10 minutes.

  2. Fill a shaker two-thirds with ice and add all four liquids.

  3. Shake hard for 12 seconds, until the shaker is frosted and uncomfortable to hold.

  4. Double strain into the chilled glass through a fine sieve.

  5. Twist the lime peel over the surface to release the oils, then drop it in.

Tips

  • Use unsweetened cranberry juice if you can find it. The sweetened kind pushes the drink too far.

  • It should be pale pink, not red. If it is red, you have used too much cranberry.

  • Add 10 ml more lime if it tastes flat — acidity is almost always what a dull cocktail is missing.
